Voices from Gaza: Wael Al-Dahdouh’s Impactful Messages to Biden Amid Israeli War

Watan-The correspondent of Al Jazeera channel and its bureau chief in the Gaza Strip, Wael Al-Dahdouh, delivered impactful and strong messages to U.S. President Joe Biden regarding the Israeli war on Gaza.

In a television interview with the American network MSNBC, Al-Dahdouh urged Joe Biden to pay attention to what is happening in the besieged Gaza Strip.

He stated, “I ask the U.S. President, and I advise him to look at what is happening and to listen to ordinary people who are paying the cost of this deadly war.”

 

Emphasizing that the people of Gaza are currently facing extreme suffering, he asserted their right to secure their human rights as partners in humanity.

Al-Dahdouh pointed out that the U.S. President should listen to both sides of the narrative, not just one, saying, “It is the right of the Palestinian people, and my right as a father who is suffering and has lost family members, to speak about the way I live.”

He mentioned, “I paid a heavy price for the weapons that targeted the place where my family was and destroyed it, leveling it to the ground without prior warning, as I believe, my family and many other families, and this is a great injustice.”

Egyptian Nomination for Wael Al-Dahdouh

Wael Al-Dahdouh is an icon of Palestinian journalism in the Gaza Strip and symbolizes resilience due to the severity of what he has endured during the current war in Gaza. He suffered severe injuries and lost a significant number of his family members in Israeli attacks.

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate nominated Wael Al-Dahdouh for the UNESCO International Courage Award, as announced by the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, Khaled El-Balshi, in addition to a syndicate award.

Jordanian Gesture of Appreciation for Wael Al-Dahdouh

In a gesture of appreciation towards Wael Al-Dahdouh’s sacrifices, the municipality of Al-Karak in southern Jordan named one of its streets after the martyr Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh, in recognition of the sacrifices of the dean of journalists and father of martyrs, Wael Al-Dahdouh, and as a embodiment of the sacrifice and steadfastness of the people in the Gaza Strip.

Martyrdom of Hamza Al-Dahdouh

The journalist Hamza Al-Dahdouh was martyred days ago in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a car carrying journalists, including the martyr Mustafa Tharia, a journalist collaborating with Al Jazeera since the beginning of the war on October 7 last year.

Hamza Al-Dahdouh joined several other members of Wael‘s family who were martyred during the ongoing war, including his wife and two other sons, along with a grandchild, in addition to several other family members.
