Watan-According to Hebrew sources, details of the dispute between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yaaov Gantz have been revealed after the latter withdrew from a meeting of the Security Cabinet a few days ago.
The sources, as reported by an Israeli journalist, stated that when Yaaov Gantz arrived at the meeting venue, his assistant was initially prevented from entering with him. However, when Gantz entered the room, he found five of Netanyahu’s assistants present.
The sources mentioned, “Netanyahu told Gantz that as long as his assistants did not attend, Gantz’s assistant should not attend either, despite the presence of five of Netanyahu’s staff in the place.”
Defense Minister’s withdrawal
This incident led to the Israeli Defense Minister’s decision to withdraw from the location.
According to the Israeli journalist, Netanyahu’s stance is seen as vindictive because he believes the military is leaking some information related to bilateral talks or discussions.
Following this incident, Netanyahu and Gantz appeared together in a joint conference, displaying feigned friendliness, described by the Israeli journalist as insincere, and suggesting that the two men dislike each other.
The Israeli journalist added, “This indicates that both men, especially Netanyahu, have not risen to the demands of the present time, and politics remains their sole driving force.”
Members of the Security Cabinet contemplate their futures
Regarding the Security Cabinet members, another Israeli journalist stated that they are not addressing fundamental issues because each one is preoccupied with their political future after the war.
She added, “It has been 100 days since the war, and so far, the government and the Security Cabinet have not decided what they want to achieve in Gaza.”
Ofer Shelah, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies, mentioned that Gantz is no less challenging than Netanyahu, and more difficult issues have emerged from his office than the assistant’s story.
