Tragedy Strikes: Ahmed Aldarra Joins His Brother in Martyrdom Amid Israeli Airstrike on Gaza Home
Ahmed Aldarra joins his brother Mohammed as a martyr in an Israeli airstrike

Watan-Palestinian media announced the martyrdom of Ahmed Aldarra, the brother of the Palestinian child martyr Mohammed Aldarra, in an Israeli airstrike targeting their family home in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip.

The child Mohammed Aldarra became an icon of the Second Intifada, documented by the correspondent of France 2, Charles Enderlin, 24 years ago when he sought shelter with his father behind a cement barrel on Salah al-Din Street in Gaza City.

Specifically on September 28, 2000, he was martyred by a sniper’s bullet amidst his father’s cries of “The child is dead… the child is dead.”

This incident, lasting for more than a minute, showed the scene of the father and son taking refuge in each other, the lamentation of the boy, the father’s signal to the gunmen to stop amid a hail of gunfire and dust, and then the boy lying on his father’s legs after passing away.

Palestinian media reported that Ahmed Aldarra (brother of Mohammed Aldarra) was martyred in an Israeli occupation airstrike that targeted the family’s home in the Al-Bureij camp in the middle of Gaza.

The Gaza Civil Defense announced yesterday (Thursday) the retrieval of the bodies of 15 martyrs from under the rubble in the Al-Bureij camp in the center of the Strip, following an Israeli aerial bombardment on homes in the camp.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli warplanes targeted an entire residential block near the market behind the UNRWA schools, which shelter refugees in the middle of the Al-Bureij camp.

Occupation deliberately kills children

Jamal Aldarra, the grieving father of the martyr Mohammed Aldarra, bid farewell to his two brothers, Nael and Iyad, who were martyred at the beginning of the aggression on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, after 23 years since the martyrdom of his son, who was killed by Israeli army bullets during the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000.

The grieving father said on the sidelines of the martyrs’ funeral at that time: “Israel bombed my brothers’ homes, killing my two brothers, my brother’s wife, and his only daughter. Dozens of my neighbors were killed, most of them children.”

He continued that the occupation deliberately kills children, and the scene of Mohammed’s killing continues to repeat itself for 23 years. He added that Mohammed’s blood still flows, losing his son Ahmed in circumstances similar to those of the Israeli occupation.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced in a statement issued on Thursday an increase in the number of martyrs due to the Israeli aggression on Gaza to 24,620 martyrs, and the number of injuries to 61,830.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said in its statement that the Israeli occupation army committed 15 massacres, resulting in 172 martyrs and 326 injuries in the past 24 hours.
