Controversial Video Sparks Debate: Moroccan Woman Breastfeeds Puppies, Unveiling Cultural Norms and Societal Constraints
Watan-In a story reminiscent of jungle tales and science fiction, activists in Morocco shared a controversial video on social media. The video shows a Moroccan woman in her thirties breastfeeding a number of puppies, sparking widespread debate.
According to the Moroccan website “Hespress,” the content was filmed in a village in the Taounate region, where the woman resides with her husband, who returned from emigration to settle in his hometown.
The video’s creator stated in a live broadcast on her personal page that the Royal Gendarmerie had interviewed her on Thursday at her residence following the uproar caused by the video. She mentioned that she would be referred to court without providing further details.

A Live Clarification Session
In a subsequent explanatory video titled “Clarification Live,” she defended the controversial content, explaining that she treats the puppies like her own children because she is a barren wife who has not had children with her husband. She stated that her husband does not mind her bold appearance on social media.
Addressing critics who condemned her appearance with bare breasts while breastfeeding the puppies, she argued that what she did is a normal practice. She attributed it to the fact that breastfeeding women in her community used to feed their children while exposing their breasts in public.
Social repression
She emphasized that societal constraints have shifted the focus to breasts, whereas the focus should be on the joy of the dogs. She urged critics to look away from the breasts and concentrate on the puppies, expressing her happiness in the scene while testing the dogs for breastfeeding after their mother refused.
The newspaper “Al Sabah” reported that Gendarmerie forces from the Wartazag center, within its jurisdiction, visited the woman’s house on Thursday afternoon based on central orders after the video and the angry reactions it generated were circulated.

The Gendarmerie questioned the woman about the circumstances and details of filming, publishing, and sharing the video, pending decisions or possibly limiting the actions to preparing a report for the purpose of clarification and information only.
The newspaper’s sources did not rule out the possibility that the woman, breastfeeding the puppies, may be experiencing psychological issues that led her to commit such an act, without considering the consequences. This might be related to her inability to conceive despite almost a decade of marriage to her husband, who immigrated to one of the Nordic countries before settling in the Sidi Abdelwarith village in the Tafraout community and leadership.
