The Hebrew site “Walla” described the events involving the occupation forces in Gaza as “the toughest days of fighting in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war.”

Media outlets confirmed the death of 22 Israeli soldiers in the explosion of two buildings, targeting a tank, and detonating a tunnel by Palestinian factions in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. Additionally, 6 soldiers are reported missing.

The Israeli occupation army reported the transfer of 15 soldiers and an officer who suffered various injuries in the battles in Khan Yunis.

It explained that “more than 13 rescue helicopters are participating in evacuation operations from Khan Yunis.”

Earlier on Monday, the Israeli army acknowledged the death of 3 of its officers in battles west of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza. The Israeli occupation army clarified in a statement carried by Hebrew media that two of the killed officers held the rank of major, and the third held the rank of captain, noting that the three deceased officers were the deputy commander of the company, the commander of the platoon, and the leader of the unit in the 2020 Brigade of the Paratroopers.

In operational contexts, the Al-Qassam Brigades stated in a late-night statement on Monday via Telegram that its fighters “targeted a Zionist tank of the ‘Merkava’ type with a ‘Yassin 105’ shell west of Khan Yunis.”

They then confronted a Zionist rescue force attempting to withdraw the tank from the targeted area and prevented them from advancing towards the vehicle. “The warplanes targeted the tank with several missiles, completely crushing it, along with its occupants.”
