Watan-An Israeli official denied what was claimed by an officer in the occupying army about the killing of 8 infants and a woman (a survivor of Nazi camps) in the settlement of “Beri” adjacent to the Gaza Strip, by the gunfire of the Qassam Brigades during the execution of the Al-Aqsa Tempest operation and the October 7 attack.
The officer, Major “Guy Basson,” deputy commander of the Kfir Brigade in the Israeli army, claimed in an interview with Channel 14 in Hebrew that 8 infants were killed in Beri, and that a “Holocaust survivor” named Genia was also killed.
He claimed to have seen eight children killed in a nursery in Kibbutz Bari and claimed that a survivor of Auschwitz named “Genia” was killed in the kibbutz and that he saw the number engraved on her hand.
The allegations were denied by the settlers themselves
The Israeli newspaper “Haaretz” quoted statements by a spokesman for the Beri settlement – not mentioning his name – in which he denied those allegations, saying that about 100 people were killed in Beri and that the settlers faced hundreds of tragic incidents on that Black Saturday, as he expressed it.
No mention of the name Genia in Beri
He later added: “The other image that remained stuck in my mind is Genia, with the blessed memory, an elderly woman from Kibbutz Beri, I see the number engraved on her arm, and you say to yourself, she went through the Holocaust in Auschwitz and ended up dead in Kibbutz Beri.”
However, Haaretz pointed out that “there is no survivor of the Holocaust named Genia in Beri.”
The newspaper clarified: “To our knowledge, no one has ever lived under this name in the kibbutz. In addition, none of the victims of the Beri massacre (Hamas attack) were survivors of the Holocaust.”
Haaretz quoted the Israeli army as saying – in response to these allegations – that “the events mentioned will be investigated. There was no intention to describe an event that did not happen, and we apologize if anyone felt offended. We will put things in their proper perspective and clarify to all those involved in the media effort.”
Pure imagination
An investigation published by the French newspaper “Libération” and based on the fact-checking service “Check News” revealed a widespread media deception campaign carried out by official Israeli, military, and civilian authorities, involving Western governments and officials and global media outlets.
Diplomatic correspondences were included, conveying incorrect facts about what happened on October 7th during the “Al-Aqsa Tempest” operation, without any verification.
The investigation by the French newspaper and “Check News,” which was circulated by Arab media outlets, concluded that many of the “atrocities” mentioned, whether by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or American officials like Secretary of State Antony Blinken and others, did not happen and were purely imaginary.
