The moment when the giant waves found their way through a U.S. military restaurant was captured, showcasing the invasion of rushing water from the outside while people inside tried to escape and survive the flooding.
The strong waves shattered glass, broke doors, and rushed into the hall, with water continuing to flow into the building. People inside attempted to hold onto pieces of furniture to maintain their balance, clearly expressing fear.
Evacuation of Non-Essential Personnel
In the aftermath of this highly unusual incident, the U.S. military leadership had to evacuate non-essential personnel from the mission.
The incident occurred when weather-induced waves, ranging from three to four feet in height, swept across Roy Namur Island, located in the northern part of the Marshall Islands. The incident resulted in one person sustaining injuries to the lower part of their body, and they were treated at a clinic on the nearby Kwajalein Island, with their condition reported as stable.
