Watan-The European Saudi Organization for Human Rights expressed, with numbers and evidence, its confidence in the continuous and mass executions it described as brutal, marking unprecedented steps in the Kingdom.
In a report published on its website, the organization confirmed the execution of 172 death sentences in Saudi Arabia in 2023, citing data from the Ministry of Interior published by the official news agency.
It clarified that the number of executions in the Kingdom increased by 15% compared to the figure announced by the Ministry of Interior in 2022.
The report mentioned the monitoring of 147 sentences, despite the execution of a mass execution involving 81 individuals in 2022.
According to the organization’s report, the monthly execution rate over 10 months averaged approximately 17 executions per month.
Additionally, there was the execution of a death penalty during the holy month of Ramadan, an unprecedented move as no executions were recorded during this month before.
