Israeli Occupation Army’s Withdrawal: Insights into Kafir Brigade from Khan Yunis

Watan-The military expert, Major General Fayez al-Dweiri, revealed the conditions under which the occupation army withdraws its soldiers from the Gaza Strip, following the withdrawal of the Kafir Brigade from Khan Yunis several days ago.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, Major General al-Dweiri stated that the occupation army does not withdraw combat units unless its losses exceed 40% in terms of equipment and personnel.

He added that Khan Yunis had eight brigades, and one was withdrawn several days ago. However, a brigade or unit is not withdrawn from combat unless it incurs losses exceeding 40%, whether in equipment or personnel.

Furthermore, he explained that if the readiness of a vehicle and its user falls below 60%, it must be withdrawn.

Fayez al-Dweiri pointed out that the occupation army kept seven brigades in the area, with the main force located in the eastern region, without achieving the desired objectives.

The Israeli occupation army withdrew the Kafir Brigade from Khan Yunis a few days ago, citing increased readiness, and replaced them with other forces.

 

What is the Kafir Brigade?

The Kafir Brigade, also known as Brigade 900, was historically stationed in the West Bank. Formed in the early 1990s, it consisted of six infantry battalions to support armored forces in the West Bank.

The brigade is notorious for its urban combat expertise since its establishment, known for its oppressive practices and acts of harassment against Palestinian residents.
