Israel Bombs Iranian State TV Headquarters in Tehran Amid Threats to Target Civilian Zones
Strike hits Iranian broadcaster’s building during live broadcast; casualties reported as Israel warns of further attacks on civilian infrastructure in northeast Tehran.
Watan-Israel targeted the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster shortly after announcing its intention to strike civilian areas in Iran. Iranian media confirmed that several state TV employees were killed or injured in the attack.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) issued a statement confirming that its main facilities in Tehran were hit by an Israeli airstrike on Monday.
Videos circulated on social media show the moment of the attack during a live news program, with the explosion occurring while a presenter was delivering the news on-air, causing severe damage to the newsroom studio. The footage also captures the broadcast cut off at the moment of impact.
Preceded by Evacuation Warnings
Earlier, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had issued a public threat to destroy Iran’s official broadcasting entity, warning civilians to evacuate the area surrounding the IRIB complex in northeast Tehran.
Gallant said in a statement:“Iran’s propaganda machine is about to disappear. Civilian evacuation has begun in the adjacent neighborhoods.”
The Israeli army posted in Persian on X, urging civilians in “Zone 3” (northeast Tehran) to immediately evacuate, stating:“In the coming hours, the army will operate in this zone as it did across Tehran in recent days, striking regime military structures.”
High-Risk Civilian Area Targeted
The targeted neighborhood is considered one of Tehran’s upscale districts and houses four hospitals, multiple medical centers, a police station, and the IRIB complex. It is also home to several embassies, including Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, as well as UN offices and the AFP bureau.
Earlier on Monday, Israeli forces had claimed they had achieved full air superiority over Tehran’s skies, signaling further military operations in densely populated civilian zones.
