Unveiling Tensions: Speculations Surrounding a Potential U.S. Military Operation in Iran
American base attack

Watan-After the killing of three American soldiers in a drone attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan, accusations of Iran’s involvement in the attack quickly surfaced, raising questions about the nature of the U.S. response.

President Joe Biden stated that he holds “armed groups operating in Syria and Iraq, supported by Iran,” responsible for the attack on the American base in northeastern Jordan.

Biden said, “We know it was carried out by the armed extremist groups supported by Iran and operating in Syria and Iraq.”

He vowed to hold those responsible for the attack on the U.S. base accountable, using the time and method of his country’s choosing.

U.S. officials emphasized the need to respond to the attack that resulted in the death of three American soldiers and injuries to others, targeting a U.S. military site in northeastern Jordan.

Calls for Holding Iran Accountable

Mike Rogers, the head of the Armed Services Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, stated, “It’s time for President Joe Biden to hold Iran and its proxies accountable for attacking U.S. forces.”

He urged Biden to hold the Iranian regime and its extremist agents accountable for the assault on U.S. forces.

Some U.S. lawmakers called for a significant and strong response against Iran. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated that the Biden administration’s policy against Iran has failed, citing over 100 attacks on U.S. forces in the region. He called on the White House to strike targets inside Iran in retaliation for the deaths of American soldiers.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton suggested launching a devastating attack on Iranian terrorist forces in Iran or across the Middle East. Meanwhile, Republican Senator John Cornyn called for targeting Tehran in response to the deadly attack on American soldiers.

Drone Attack Casualties

A drone attack on a U.S. base in northeastern Jordan, near the Syrian border, resulted in the death of three American soldiers and the injury of 34 others.

This attack marks the first of its kind against U.S. forces in Jordan since the Israeli war on Gaza and is the first to result in American casualties.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility, stating that its fighters attacked four “enemy” bases using drones. The targeted bases were identified as Shaddadi, Rukban, Tannaf, and the fourth within the occupied Palestinian territories, specifically the Zifolon Naval Facility.
