Debunking Fake News: Verify Exposes Manipulated Image Amidst Israeli Hospital Operation
A picture of Ben Ghafir with the special forces that stormed Ibn Sina Hospital.

Watan-The website “Verify,” a Palestinian platform for fact-checking information and verifying Palestinian content, debunked an image that some claimed was taken with the special forces that stormed Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin city, West Bank, on Tuesday, in an attempt to boost the morale of the collapsing occupation army.

It turns out that the image is old and dates back to the visit of the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, to the undercover unit of the Border Police in “Judea and Samaria” on January 18th of this year. During the visit, he ordered them to shoot any Palestinian carrying a weapon.

Attire of a Woman

In the circulated image, Ben Gvir appeared among a group of people dressed more like resistance fighters. Some of them appeared to be covering their faces with Palestinian kuffiyehs, while others had them on their shoulders, and none of the undercover officers’ faces were visible, except for Ben Gvir.

One of them on the far right of the image appeared to be wearing a blue women’s dress and also had a women’s head covering.

The Palestinian observatory “Verify” clarified that the circulated image was published by Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper on January 18, 2024, under the title: “Ben Gvir with his ‘fire orders’: ‘Do you see a terrorist? Shoot – even if he doesn’t pose a threat.'”

Base of the Undercover Units

The newspaper explained that the image documented the visit of the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir to the undercover unit of the Border Police in “Judea and Samaria,” accompanied by the Border Police Commander Brigadier General Yitzhak Brik. It noted that during the visit, he spoke with the undercover unit and fighters, provided them with full support, and ordered them to shoot any armed Palestinian.

Ben Gvir also shared the image on his official account on the “X” application, accompanied by details of the visit. In his tweet, he said, “When you are in danger or face an armed Palestinian in front of you, do not hesitate to open fire. One hair from your head is worth more than a thousand Palestinians.”

Assassination of Patients at Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin

The assassination of patients at Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin: Scenes circulated on Tuesday showing Israeli forces “disguised” inside Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, assassinating Palestinian patients.

The medical director of the hospital, Najee Nazal, told Fars News Agency that Israeli undercover forces killed three Palestinians with silenced weapons in the rehabilitation department on the third floor of the hospital on Tuesday morning.

According to Najee, one of the martyrs had been receiving treatment at the hospital since October and was unable to move. He mentioned that among the three martyrs were the brothers Basem and Mohammed Al-Ghazawi, in addition to Mohammed Jalamneh.

In a surveillance video posted by the Palestinian authorities on social media, dozens of Israeli soldiers armed with military weapons and disguised as medical personnel or civilians entered the care unit at 5:43 am and carried out their crime by assassinating the three individuals.
