Watan-The Houthi Ansar Allah group continued its operations in Yemen against American targets in the Red Sea, as part of the repercussions of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.

The Houthi group stated in a statement issued by the group’s military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, that they targeted an American destroyer in the Red Sea with several naval missiles.

Saree stated on his “X” platform account: “The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces (affiliated with the Houthis) launched several appropriate naval missiles at the American destroyer USS Gravely in the Red Sea.”

He added that the operation comes in support of the injustice against the Palestinian people and in response to the American-British aggression on Yemen.

He continued, “All American and British warships in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea participating in the aggression against our country are within the range of our forces’ targets, and they will be targeted within the right of legitimate defense for our country, our people, and our nation, confirming Yemen’s supportive stance for Palestine.”

He emphasized the continued prevention of Israeli navigation or any heading towards the ports of occupied Palestine until the cessation of the war on Gaza, as well as the lifting of the blockade.

The American narrative of the Houthi attack

In turn, the United States Central Command “CENTCOM” stated that the destroyer “USS Gravely” intercepted an anti-ship cruise missile in the Red Sea.

The Central Command stated that the missile was launched from areas controlled by the Houthi group in Yemen, without causing any injuries.

American threat to open battles

This operation is added to a list of operations carried out by the Houthi group. However, what is noteworthy is that it comes after the group announced receiving a threat from the United States to “open battles and move fronts” in Yemen, conveyed through a message from Washington via the Sultanate of Oman.

Houthi Supreme Political Council member Mohammed Ali al-Houthi said, “Opening battles and moving fronts is one of the American threats conveyed in an American message through Oman.”

Al-Houthi added that the American message is a response to the stance of the Yemeni people rejecting the extermination of the people of Gaza and their siege.

He continued, “We say to them that the fate of any adventure or folly in implementing the American threat is failure and loss, and the people will not be deterred by any enemy move from its mission to support Gaza.”
