Retaliatory Strikes: U.S. Launches Continuous Raids in Response to Soldier Deaths in Syria
American airstrikes in Syria and Iraq

Watan-The American strikes continued in the aftermath of what they call retaliatory response to the killing of three American soldiers in an attack on a military base in the northeastern part of Jordan.

The Syrian state news agency “SANA” revealed the killing and injury of several civilians and military personnel due to the American strikes in eastern Syria near the borders with Iraq.

The agency quoted a statement from the Ministry of Defense in the Syrian government, stating that the U.S. forces launched what it described as a blatant aerial aggression on several locations and towns in the eastern region of Syria near the Syrian-Iraqi border.

It added that the strike resulted in the killing of several civilians and military personnel, injuring others, and causing significant damage to public and private properties.

American strikes on Syria and Iraq

In the past hours, the U.S. military carried out strikes in Syria and Iraq against what was said to be targets affiliated with the Revolutionary Guard and factions allied with Iran, while President Joe Biden confirmed that the airstrikes would continue.

Biden stated that his military conducted strikes on facilities in Iraq and Syria used by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its allied factions to target U.S. forces.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reported that the U.S. military conducted strikes against seven facilities in Iraq and Syria, comprising more than 85 targets, noting that the Revolutionary Guard and armed factions linked to Iran use them to attack U.S. forces.

He added that these strikes are the beginning of the American response, emphasizing that the United States does not seek conflict in the Middle East, but it will not tolerate attacks against U.S. forces.

The U.S. administration had earlier announced that the “retaliatory operations” for the killing of American soldiers would be multiple and staged, targeting various objectives.

According to U.S. officials speaking to the American network “CNN,” plans for a series of strikes on Iranian targets in Syria and Iraq were approved, expected to occur over several days.

Continuous attacks on U.S. forces

U.S. forces in the Middle East are facing escalating attacks with rockets and drones due to their support for Israel in its war on Gaza.

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has recorded more than 150 attacks on its forces since last October, but the Jordanian attack is the first targeting that resulted in the killing of American soldiers since the beginning of the conflict.
