Watan-It seems that the normalization process between Saudi Arabia and Israel is strongly approaching in the near future, according to signals being sent in this context.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan considered that normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel, along with peace in the Middle East, is a suitable solution for all parties.
In a conversation with the “Inside Washington” program on “Alhurra” channel, the American official explained that the elements of normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia exist, and his country understands this matter.
Sullivan emphasized that Saudi-American normalization is possible, should happen, and must happen, emphasizing that the United States will work every day to ensure its achievement.
In a clear indication in this regard, Jake Sullivan pointed to the “possibility” of signing a peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia, without specifying a particular date.
Saudi readiness for normalization with Israel
Recently, Reuters reported, citing informed sources, that Saudi Arabia would be prepared to accept a political commitment from Israel to establish a Palestinian state in exchange for normalization, in an attempt to obtain approval for a defense agreement with Washington before the U.S. presidential elections.
Two regional sources told the agency that Saudi officials informed their American counterparts that Riyadh would not insist on Israel taking tangible steps towards establishing a Palestinian state and would instead accept a political commitment to the two-state solution.
The sources explained that this shift was made to “create room for maneuver in the talks about recognizing Israel and getting the U.S. agreement back on the right track.”
Saudi officials reportedly asked Washington secretly to pressure Israel to end the war on Gaza and commit to a political horizon for the Palestinian state, stating that Riyadh would then normalize relations and assist in financing the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
Saudi Arabia wants to fortify itself
Due to increasing Arab anger over the war on Gaza, Riyadh halted an American plan to persuade it to normalize relations with and recognize Israel for the first time.
However, Reuters sources stated that Saudi Arabia is increasingly keen on enhancing its security and warding off threats from its rival, Iran, to advance its ambitious plan to transform its economy and attract massive foreign investments.
