Watan-Buckingham Palace announced the diagnosis of Britain’s Prince Charles III with a type of cancer and confirmed in a statement that the king has started receiving regular treatments, according to a statement issued on Monday.

The palace explained that the king was diagnosed within a hospital for the treatment of benign prostate enlargement, and a separate worrying issue was also mentioned.

According to the palace statement, subsequent diagnostic tests for the 75-year-old King Charles identified a type of cancer, as reported by BBC Turkish and translated by (Watan).

A statement on the health condition of King Charles

Buckingham Palace stated that the king remains steadfast in the face of these news and looks forward to returning to full public service as soon as possible.

The statement mentioned the postponement of the king’s public commitments to be assisted by senior members of the royal family in supporting him during his treatment.

Despite the king’s temporary suspension of participation in his public engagements, Buckingham Palace spoke about his continued constitutional role as head of state.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak commented on Buckingham’s statement expressing his wishes for the speedy recovery of King Charles after announcing his cancer diagnosis.

What is the story of prostate enlargement in King Charles?

The British king had returned to his home at the beginning of February after undergoing a “corrective procedure” for prostate enlargement at the London Clinic.

Charles waved to the crowds with his hands as he left the hospital accompanied by his wife, Camilla.

Members of the British royal family usually do not disclose details of their health conditions as they consider them private matters.

However, Charles was keen to share details of his condition to encourage men experiencing symptoms of this disease to undergo medical examination.

Buckingham Palace had announced on January 17 the need for the king to undergo surgery for the treatment of prostate enlargement, a common benign condition among men over 50 years old.
