Watan-Hebrew media outlets have confirmed that “lethal fungi” are spreading among Israeli soldiers participating in the war in the Gaza Strip.
On Wednesday, the death of soldier Hanan Drori, 26 years old, was announced. He was afflicted with a severe fungus in Gaza that spread throughout his body.
Drori was seriously injured on December 17 during fierce battles with Palestinian resistance in Gaza. Concurrently, he was also infected with fungi that penetrated his body, exacerbating his health condition.
According to Hebrew media, Drori’s family made significant efforts in recent days to obtain a new and experimental drug for him after reaching out to Pfizer, but his condition was critically severe.
This marks the second death of an Israeli soldier due to fungal infections in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli Channel 12.
What are the fungi posing a threat to occupation soldiers in Gaza?
Last December, a soldier died after being infected with soil-borne infectious fungi that spread throughout his body.
In recent weeks, amid the Israeli army’s fighting in the Gaza Strip, the Public Health Physicians Union warned of resistant bacteria and fungi that soldiers may contract due to poor health conditions.
Israeli Channel 11 reported Thursday that another 30 Israeli soldiers are in critical condition due to these lethal fungi.
On Thursday, the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip entered its 125th day, with the resistance inflicting further losses in lives and machinery on the occupation army in battles in Gaza and Khan Yunis.
