Watan-Harsh scenes have spread, documenting the magnitude of the famine striking the Gaza Strip, amidst the ongoing Israeli war since October 7th of last year.
These scenes showed a woman putting a date in her baby’s mouth after milk ran out due to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
Many reports have documented the dire situation in the Gaza Strip due to the humanitarian crisis amidst the ongoing Israeli war.
Eating grass to cope with famine in Gaza
The organization “Action Aid” stated that food in the Gaza Strip has become extremely scarce to the point that people resort to eating grass.
They added that everyone in Gaza is suffering from hunger today, and people only get 1.5 to 2 liters of unsafe water daily to meet all their needs.
The spokesperson for the organization’s branch in Palestine, Reham al-Jaafari, expressed deep concern about reports of a possible ground attack on Rafah and an increase in airstrikes on the region.
She added: “Let us be absolutely clear: any escalation of hostilities in Rafah, where more than 1.4 million people live, will have truly catastrophic consequences.”
No food in northern Gaza
In a related context, the government media office in the Gaza Strip warned of the escalation of famine in the northern governorate of Gaza after the depletion of quantities of flour, rice, food, and fodder that the residents of the northern sector used to consume.
The media office stated that the northern areas of the sector urgently need the entry of one thousand trucks daily to recover from the famine and its effects.
Israeli occupation tanks stationed near the Gaza Valley prevent the entry of food and medical aid to the northern sector.
Famine and the spread of diseases in Gaza
The World Food Program stated that the residents of the Gaza Strip are living through “a major humanitarian disaster” amidst hunger, famine, and the spread of diseases.
The director of the World Food Program in Palestine revealed that “there are United Nations statistics conducted last December indicating that at least 300,000 people in the northern sector are at risk of dying from hunger.”
He explained that “Gaza is experiencing several crises, foremost among them the lack of healthcare and hunger.”
