Watan-The Hebrew newspaper “Makor Rishon” revealed a great deal of anger among some supporters of the Israeli occupation after they discovered that much of the military aid provided for the brutal war against Gaza was being sold through social media platforms.

The newspaper confirmed that the anger reached many of the supporters, leading some to consider stopping their aid, putting the leadership of the Israeli army in a major predicament after discovering dozens of cases where fighters were offering their equipment for sale online.

The sales include weapons and shields being offered for sale for 1000 shekels each, along with military uniforms being sold for several hundred shekels.

This angered both supporters and military officials in the leadership of the Israeli army, especially after donors began to consider halting their aid, while others actually stopped the aid out of fear of it being sold.

Shortage of Occupation Equipment

According to the Hebrew newspaper, the Israeli army discovered numerous equipment shortages after enlisting more than 300,000 reserve soldiers, with some of the equipment being essential for combat such as vests, helmets, weapon sights, and others.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated that halting aid and resorting to non-standard equipment to fill the gaps could harm the course of military operations in Gaza.

The newspaper quoted an Israeli army spokesperson as saying, “Selling military equipment is prohibited. Each case is dealt with individually according to the circumstances,” without providing any further information.

Egyptian journalist Ahmed Mansour commented on this: “In short, Israel finds itself in dire straits, and war represents an escape from confronting this reality. When the dust of war clears, we will discover the fragility of Israel from within.”

Maria wrote, “The Israeli collapse would have been present for years if it weren’t for the support of Western governments and some Arab governments with money and equipment.”

American Memorandum Concerning Weapons

Two days ago, US President Joe Biden issued a presidential memorandum demanding foreign governments receiving weapons from Washington to provide written assurances of compliance with international and US law.

The presidential memorandum requested the Secretaries of State and Defense to provide regular reports to Congress for meaningful oversight of the weapons supplied by America to foreign governments (including the Israeli occupation).

This comes at a time when the occupation is waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands dead and wounded, mostly civilians, including many children and women.

The Israeli-supported brutal war, backed by dozens of Western and Arab countries, has caused an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and immense destruction to the infrastructure, leading Tel Aviv to stand trial before the International Court of Justice for the first time in its history, accused of “genocide.”
