Shaking Israel: High-Ranking Official Exposes Hamas’ Penetration of Military Secrets
Watan-The newspaper “Israel Hayom” revealed significant Israeli concerns about the Israeli army being subjected to deep anti-spying operations by the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas.
The newspaper quoted an officer in the Israeli military intelligence (AMAN), described by the newspaper as a veteran without naming him, saying that there is serious concern about the Israeli army being subjected to deep anti-spying operations by Hamas before the war.
The officer added that the investigating committee will have to ask where they obtained a lot of internal information about what was happening in the most secretive bases of the Israeli army.
He pointed out that the elite forces of the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, had information about extremely sensitive locations for the Israeli army, which remained secret even within the army itself.
The Israeli officer continued: “We need to know how this information reached them… These are details that even Israeli army leaders do not tell their friends.”
He admitted that what happened represents a double intelligence failure for the Shin Bet (General Security Service), which should have gathered information about Hamas’ plans, but as known, failed to do so.
He emphasized that the Shin Bet is also responsible for preventing counter-espionage, which means not allowing the other party to gather information from within Israel.
The Israeli officer said: “We now know that Hamas knew a lot about us, beyond just collecting information from drones and surveillance.”
The officer in the AMAN department concluded his remarks by saying: “This means that there is a serious reason to doubt the existence of widespread counterespionage, which we still do not know how it happened. There may be a party that helped Hamas, and this issue should not be overlooked, and it must be investigated after the war.”
