Israeli Minister Celebrates New Trade Route: UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan Open Doors for Goods

Watan-Israeli Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, appeared in a video standing at one of India’s ports, inspecting the route connecting India to the UAE, followed by the overland transportation of goods to Israel through Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

The Israeli Minister said, “We are now at the Mundra Port, the largest port in northern India, where goods are shipped… All these shipments go to the UAE, and from the UAE by road to Israel.”

She added, “The war imposed challenges on us… The biggest challenge is how to supply goods to Israel… Israel is like an island, and all goods arrive by sea.”

She pointed out that this route is an alternative to the Red Sea due to the attacks by the Yemeni Houthi group on ships bound for Israel, explaining that goods leave Mundra Port in India to the UAE by sea, then are transported by trucks through Saudi Arabia and Jordan before reaching Israel.

Avoiding Houthi attacks

The Israeli Minister had previously revealed that Tel Aviv is working on a route to transport goods from India through the UAE, then to the occupation state, to bypass Houthi attacks in the Red Sea.

Miri Regev said in a previous post on the “X” platform: “We are creating a bypass axis for the Houthis, where goods will be transported from India via Abu Dhabi to Tel Aviv.”

She explained that the overland transportation of goods will reduce the time by 12 days and significantly reduce current waiting times due to the Houthi problem.

A route for transporting goods

The CEO of Israeli Trucknet Enterprise Ltd, Hanan Friedman, revealed that his company is sending goods, including food, plastics, chemicals, and electrical materials, from ports in the UAE and Bahrain, through Saudi Arabia and Jordan, to Israel and then to Europe.

The company “Hapag-Lloyd AG”, the world’s fifth-largest container shipping company, is looking to link Jebel Ali Port in Dubai and two ports on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia with Jeddah on the western coast. There is also another option linking Jebel Ali with Jordan.

Friedman said that goods from India, Thailand, South Korea, and China have been sent by trucks in recent weeks. Goods heading to Asia are moving in the opposite direction, helping to reduce overall costs.

He pointed out that the long-term feasibility of this route will depend on stability in the region. Also, the quantities that trucks can carry are much smaller than those transported by ships.
