Egyptian Regime Accused of Diverting Gaza Aid to Kenya: Activists Speak Out

Watan-The Egyptian regime has faced new accusations of stealing aid designated for Gaza and sent from several countries, which has piled up at the Rafah crossing, and then sending it to Kenya under the guise of relief aid.

These accusations, heavily discussed by activists on Egyptian social media, followed an announcement by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday, Wednesday, regarding the dispatch of urgent relief aid to Kenya.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated yesterday in a statement that 10 tons of medicines, medical supplies for urgent relief, food items, and emergency shelter tents were sent to Kenya to assist in relief efforts for those affected by the floods that hit the country at the end of last year.

Activists have confirmed the theft of aid by the regim

Among those who have leveled these accusations against the Egyptian regime is Rosa Adam, the Advocacy Office Manager at the European Endowment for Democracy, and a human rights activist.

She wrote in a tweet on her official and verified Twitter account: “Unfortunately, the information has been confirmed by truck drivers at the Rafah crossing… Egypt took a large portion of the aid designated for Gaza and sent it to Kenya.”

The human rights activist questioned, “Where is the international oversight on aid destined for Gaza?!”

Meanwhile, activists criticized the sending of aid to Kenya, even if it was genuinely Egyptian aid, while the Egyptian regime leaves the people of Gaza to die from hunger, disease, and cold at the border.

This is not the first time

This is not the first time such accusations have been directed at Abdel Fattah el-Sisi’s regime regarding aid for the Gaza Strip.

In late November last year, Egyptian authorities were also accused of stealing ambulances sent from Arab countries to Gaza, specifically those sent from Kuwait.

At that time, former Egyptian army colonel Ahmed Abdo Maher revealed and admitted to the theft of ambulances sent by Kuwait to rescue Gaza, justifying it by stating that they in the besieged sector did not need new vehicles.
