Unveiling the Truth: Fabrications Behind the Video Promoted by Israelis Regarding Gaza

Watan-Israeli accounts circulated a video showing children tearing their clothes, claiming they were Palestinians fabricating their suffering in studios affiliated with the Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement, according to their claims.

The accounts labeled the video with the word “Pallywood,” a combination of “Palestine” and “Hollywood.”

The aim of this Israeli promotion of these claims is an attempt to portray stories of suffering coming from Gaza as fabricated for propaganda purposes.

The truth about the video

However, upon investigation, it became clear that the video is old and was not filmed in the Gaza Strip originally.

It was found that the video was circulated in December 2022 on TikTok by a photographer named “ثلجي” (Thalji) 1.Q3i.

By tracking other accounts of the photographer, it was revealed that the recording was reposted on his Instagram account in December 2023, showing an Iraqi dialect.

This fake Israeli promotion is not the first of its kind. Since the beginning of the war waged by the occupation army on the Gaza Strip on October 7th, similar accounts supporting Israel on social media have shared video clips under the hashtag “Pallywood.”

These accounts claimed that the citizens in the strip were fabricating scenes of their injuries, and that the suffering depicted was either fabricated or part of propaganda campaigns.

These claims were accompanied by old or edited theatrical scenes, and others were taken out of their original context.

What does the term “Pallywood” mean?

“Pallywood” is a term composed of the words “Palestine” and “Hollywood,” and its users claim that Palestinians stage their injuries and pains and lie about martyrs and the wounded.

Similar promotion during the 2021 aggression: This has also been repeated in previous years, as Israeli accounts during the Israeli aggression on Gaza in May 2021 used to promote similar misleading claims and spread them on social media platforms.
