A statement by Hamas stated that the fascist occupation is trying in various ways to target the popular incubator of resistance, through its blatant attempts to spread chaos and instability and promote suspicious calls, relying on elements affiliated with the agendas of the occupation, hostile to Palestinians and their resistance against the “new Nazis”.

This comes after the significant failure that befell the defeated occupation army on the land of Gaza, with its plans blocked and its goals thwarted due to the steadfastness of our heroic people and the resilience of their valiant resistance.

The statement emphasized that despite the occupation’s continuous targeting of all aspects of civil, security, and governmental work, it will not hinder our protection of our people and the preservation of our popular incubator by all means.

Invitation to the Palestinian People

Hamas warned all parties against exploiting the current circumstances to tamper with our people’s internal front. It called on our loyal and steadfast people to remain vigilant, thwart any attempt to undermine their resilience and steadfastness, or target their committed sons in the resistance.

Hamas reiterated its efforts with all national forces and factions to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, stop the fascist aggression against them, meet their humanitarian needs, alleviate their injustice, and solidify their presence on their land and their adherence to their rights.

The statement concluded by urging our great people, who have set the finest examples of patience, resilience, and heroism, to remain steadfast until the aggression is broken, and to achieve our national aspirations for freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of our independent state with its capital, Jerusalem.

Hamas continues to maintain its popularity and support within Gaza, despite the occupation’s attempts to target this incubator.

Hamas’s Presence in the Day After Gaza War

The American newspaper, “The Monitor,” stated that any options for the “day after” in Gaza cannot completely ignore the presence of Hamas, a Palestinian faction with significant popularity at least.

The report added that the success of any deal to resolve the crisis depends on the Palestinian Authority taking over the reins of governance in Gaza, which necessitates significant cooperation and coordination between the two major factions, Fatah and Hamas. This is because both factions urgently need each other to escape the current deadlock.

The current situation is complex because unless Hamas is completely eliminated, which everyone, including Americans, knows will not happen, any solution will require the approval, if not the direct involvement, of Hamas.

The report noted that Hamas’s popularity has risen since last October 7th, as a poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in January 2024 showed that 42% of Palestinians in Gaza expressed support for Hamas, compared to 38% in September 2023. Meanwhile, the approval rating of the movement in the West Bank reached 44%, compared to only 12% in September 2023.
