Russian Forces Collect Missile Samples: Tensions Rise in Israeli Strikes on Iranian Warehouses in Daraa
Russian forces are collecting samples from missiles that targeted Iranian warehouses in Syria

Watan-The Syrian opposition website “Voice of the Capital” stated that Russian forces collected samples from the aftermath of the missile strikes that targeted Iranian warehouses in Daraa last night.

An Israeli warplane targeted “Al-Kom” warehouses belonging to the Syrian regime forces and pro-Iranian militias with two missiles in the middle of the night on Friday, igniting fires inside and causing material losses without any information on human casualties so far.

The “Free Horan Assembly” website, citing its correspondent, reported that a missile strike targeted weapons storage warehouses known as “Al-Kom,” belonging to the Ninth Division of the Syrian regime army, at 3:30 in the morning, without information on human losses.

The correspondent clarified that the warehouses were targeted by two missiles near the town of Mahajjah, indicating hearing explosions that shook the area in the morning due to the explosion of weapons and ammunition belonging to the Syrian regime and the Lebanese Hezbollah militia.

Hezbollah-affiliated militias are deployed in several military sites belonging to the Assad regime in southern Syria, using them as their own headquarters to consolidate their presence in the region, employing them for various security tasks, some of which involve espionage and eavesdropping.

Israel did not claim responsibility for the incident, but media reports attributed it to an “Israeli cyber operation” based on sources within the country.

Missile Samples

Local sources informed “Voice of the Capital” that a Russian patrol consisting of 5 vehicles coming from Damascus arrived at the “Al-Kom” warehouses located in the town of Mahajjah in northern Daraa countryside.

The patrol obtained samples from the Israeli missiles that targeted the site and then left for Damascus.

The sources also indicated that the mentioned warehouses are used by Iranian militias and Hezbollah to store missiles, especially after the Syrian army’s control of the province in 2018, revealing that opposition factions had never previously controlled them.

The warehouses, located near the international “Daraa Highway,” and affiliated with the Ninth Division of the Syrian army, are among the largest weapon depots in southern Syria.

Tall al-Jumou’

The Israeli airstrikes came in response to the firing of two Katyusha rockets launched from the vicinity of Tall al-Jumou’ between the city of Nawa and the town of Tasil in Daraa countryside towards the Golan Heights.

The recent targeting comes amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, where Tehran vowed “revenge” after the sabotage of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility.

This is not the first time that Israel has targeted “Al-Kom” warehouses. Israeli warplanes previously carried out airstrikes on the warehouses in July 2017, resulting in explosions and fires inside.
