Solidarity March for Gaza: Washington Protests Against Israeli Aggression
Watan-Thousands of protesters marched in the capital of the United States, Washington, in front of the Congress building despite the low temperatures, demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The march was organized by several groups supporting the Palestinian people despite the freezing cold, starting from the Chinatown area in the city center and ending in front of the Congress building passing through Pennsylvania Avenue.
The demonstrators condemned Israeli violations in Gaza and the support of the American administration for Tel Aviv.
The march continued into the evening hours under police protection.
In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Mohamed Qasim, a member of the Palestinian Youth Movement (Alhilia), said that Israel has been committing “genocide” in Gaza for more than 130 days.
He called on the United States to stop funding Israel in its war on Gaza and to immediately cease fire.
Professor Steve Crawley, a faculty member at Oberlin University, said, “We cannot remain unresponsive to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”
Crawley called on President Joe Biden’s administration to halt military support for Israel.
Since October 7th of last year, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of martyrs, missing persons, and wounded, most of whom are children and women, leading to Israel’s prosecution before the International Criminal Court on charges of “genocide” for the first time since its establishment.
