Canada responds to the asylum request of a Palestinian girl from Gaza after her death

Watan-The Palestinian refugee in Canada, Samar Al Khudur, revealed that the Canadian authorities issued the necessary permit to bring her sick daughter from Gaza after her death two weeks ago.

According to CBC News in Canada, Palestinian refugee mother Samar Al Khudur applied to the Canadian Foreign Ministry a few years ago to bring her sick daughter from Gaza to Canada, but her daughter passed away before the permit was issued.

The channel quoted Al Khudur saying that she was unable to see her 13-year-old daughter, who suffers from cerebral palsy and had been staying with relatives in Gaza since 2017.

Al Khudur said her daughter sought refuge in a church with her relatives when the Israeli occupation began its war on Gaza on October 7, 2023.

She noted that her daughter was in desperate need of medications and special food due to her illness.

She mentioned that her daughter’s needs were not met because of the Israeli occupation of Gaza, and her health deteriorated recently, leading to her death.

She explained that two weeks after her daughter’s death, the Canadian Foreign Ministry issued a permit allowing her to be brought from Gaza.

Deadly suffering for those with chronic diseases in Gaza

It is worth mentioning that the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip has exacerbated the suffering of those with chronic diseases due to the absence of healthcare resulting from the destruction of necessary facilities and the severe shortage of medicines and specialized medical staff.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza had previously warned that 350,000 people with chronic diseases were not receiving their medications due to the ongoing Israeli war since October 7th last year, and some of them were facing difficulties in obtaining their medications before the war due to the siege.
