Watan-Israeli platforms on social media have posted a picture of a man they claimed to be “Yahya Sinwar” – the leader of Hamas in Gaza – after being arrested inside the territory by Israeli soldiers.
The image shows a Palestinian man restrained and naked on a chair, undergoing interrogation by an Israeli soldier, with white hair resembling the leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, who Israel considers its top target in the current war on the territory.
A spokesperson for the Israeli army told Hebrew Channel 12’s website that the person in the picture, indeed taken in recent weeks, is not Yahya Sinwar but another activist.
He also claimed that to date, the Israeli army has failed to reach Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, whom they consider responsible for the recent Operation Sword Flood launched by Hamas on settlements and military bases near the Gaza Strip on October 7th.

On February 13th, the Israeli army released a video claiming to show Yahya Sinwar inside a tunnel, “escaping” with three of his children, one of his wives, and his brother Ibrahim Sinwar, according to Israeli claims.
The footage was shot in black and white and does not show the face of the man whom the Israeli army claimed to be Yahya Sinwar, as he was walking behind the others inside the supposed tunnel.
In response, Hamas stated that the statements by the Israeli Minister of Defense, Yoav Galant, regarding internal disagreements within the movement’s leadership and the search for an alternative to their leader in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, are empty words and a transparent psychological war.
In a press statement distributed by the movement, the source (who did not mention their name) stated that the attempts by the occupation to fabricate information about the leadership of the movement and the mujahid (Yahya) Sinwar are futile and aimed at boosting the morale of their collapsing army and entity.
The source also emphasized that the occupation’s failure to reach the resistance leaders pushes them to claim imaginary achievements, according to Al Jazeera.
Yesterday, Sunday, the Minister of Defense in his press statements said that Hamas does not trust its leaders, and this is very clear, and Hamas’s branch in Gaza does not respond, so there is no one to talk to on the ground.
Galant added that the movement’s leadership abroad is looking for leadership within the sector instead of Sinwar, according to his claim.
