Gaza: Besieged by Starvation, Forgotten by the World

Watan-The Israeli occupation, supported by Arab and Western countries, continues to employ the weapon of starvation against Palestinians in Gaza.

Sources from within the sector confirm that Gaza has become akin to the Bermuda Triangle, where every part of it is exposed to the danger of starvation-induced genocide.

“Those who did not die from bombing died from starvation” is a savage weapon Israel wields with the tacit approval of the world, which remains inactive in the face of the occupation’s imposition of siege on wide areas of Gaza.

Even Rafah, which the occupation claims to be the safest haven for Palestinians, is not in a better condition than the northern and central parts of the sector, as confirmed by a Palestinian journalist from within the region to Watan.

139 days of bombing and siege

On the 139th day of the war on Gaza, the Israeli occupation continues to bombard the sector, besiege its inhabitants, and starve them, resulting in casualties and injuries, amid warnings from UN relief agencies of an impending catastrophe in the sector.

Amid the suffocating siege, Israeli forces intensified their airstrikes on Rafah and Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, while the Israeli army suffered new losses during fierce ongoing battles in the Zaitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.

Additionally, the Al-Qassam Brigades announced that they killed Israeli soldiers in Khan Yunis, while humanitarian agency statements warned of the situation in the sector, emphasizing the necessity of providing security guarantees to facilitate the distribution of aid widely across Gaza.

Scarce aid sold in Rafah

The journalist, whose identity and name are withheld for safety reasons, stated that what most bewilders Gaza is the sale of the little aid that enters, with aid trucks still piled up on the Egyptian side of the border.

The source mentioned that the cost of renting a house is approximately 8,000 shekels, a pack of cigarettes is 200 shekels, a kilo of sugar is 57 shekels, onions are 50 shekels, meat is 120 shekels, and even charging a mobile phone now costs 2 shekels, with one shekel roughly equaling $0.27.

Regarding the stance of resistance movements and factions towards this starvation and siege, and whether they are aiding those besieged in the northern and central parts of the sector, numbering more than half a million, the journalist explained that nobody knows such matters and they cannot be accessed.

However, the volleys launched by Al-Qassam Brigades towards the occupied Palestinian territories have not occurred for about two weeks, and it is believed that this ceasefire is to prevent further suffering among besieged Palestinians, especially children and women.

UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland confirmed that displaced people in Gaza face a severe shortage of shelter, food, and medicine, and infectious diseases are increasing amidst unhealthy conditions, with more than two million people facing food insecurity.
