Watan-The Jerusalem Post, Hebrew newspaper, spoke about the failure of the occupying army to find any of the Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza, specifically in Khan Younis in the southern part of the Strip.

While the newspaper claimed that the Israeli occupying army had completed its operational control of Khan Younis, it quoted informed sources as saying that the occupying army did not find any prisoners there.

It added that this came despite the fact that the occupying army found several tunnels, including cages, claiming that prisoners were held in them.

Occupying army’s speculation about the prisoners’ whereabouts

During most periods of the war, the occupying army said that most of the Israeli prisoners held by Hamas were in Khan Younis.

There were particularly strong doubts that the prisoners might still be held in Khan Younis in the extensive tunnel network that the occupying army had only partially penetrated.

Once the occupying army advanced into the western and southern sectors, and its forces began to move with greater freedom and quickly explore the remaining tunnels, it became clear that Hamas had moved the prisoners to other locations, according to the newspaper.

Israeli prisoners

Pressure is mounting on the Israeli government to release the Israeli prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

Similarly, all the cages where the prisoners were held were empty, but there were signs indicating that they had been occupied until recently, the report claimed.

In early December, high-level sources began saying that Hamas was indeed moving some prisoners from Khan Younis to Rafah.

While it is also possible that the prisoners are hiding in more obscure villages, no security sources have proposed such a theory so far.
