Watan-The correspondent of the first Moroccan channel in the Gaza Strip, “Sobhi Abu Zeid,” has directed a message to King Mohammed VI, urging him to evacuate him and his small family from the besieged Gaza Strip, amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression since last October. The correspondent, Sobhi Abu Zeid, appeared with his wife and three children to say that he has been working with Moroccan media for more than 20 years, starting from the “Al Aoula” channel and continuing to the first Moroccan channel where he currently works.
Plea to the King of Morocco
He stated that he is working in the Gaza Strip under humanitarian conditions that only God knows, adding that everyone knows about it through television screens.
He revealed that he lives with his family in a tent amidst very difficult humanitarian conditions due to the scarcity of water and food, in addition to his wife and children’s constant fear of the sounds of shells and rockets falling on them day and night.
The journalist Abu Zeid appealed to King Mohammed VI, stating, “Since I am a correspondent for Moroccan media, especially the first channel, I appeal, along with my family from inside our tent and displacement location after the Israeli occupation demolished my house in the Tal Al-Hawa area in Gaza, to help us leave.”
He reiterated his plea to the king, “I hope you consider my and my family’s situation as a journalist working in Moroccan media for two decades, to help us leave the Gaza Strip.” He concluded by saying that he wishes to get out safely with his family from this death and genocide they are experiencing.
Evacuation of Moroccans from Gaza
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad stated earlier this month that the Moroccan government had evacuated nearly 289 of its citizens from the Gaza Strip whose identities were confirmed.
The ministry explained through its official website that this evacuation process was carried out by organizing the departure of Moroccan citizens from Gaza in four batches starting from last November, with the latest on January 30, 2024. It added that facilitating the evacuation of Moroccan expatriates was done in coordination with the Moroccan embassies in both Ramallah and Cairo.
The ministry continues its efforts to evacuate the remaining Moroccan citizens stranded in the Gaza Strip through the diplomatic representations in both Ramallah and Cairo, in coordination with the relevant Egyptian authorities.
