Unveiling the Israeli Influence: The Hidden Role in Ending Omani Rule in Zanzibar

Watan-With over 60 years having passed since the Zanzibar massacre following the 1964 revolution, media sources shed light on the hidden Israeli role in ending Omani rule there after a major massacre that claimed the lives of more than 12,000 Arab Muslims.

Media sources highlighted the hidden Israeli role in ending Omani rule in Zanzibar, which had shown significant sympathy towards the Palestinian cause and condemned the crimes committed against Palestinians.

Zanzibar, which is part of Tanzania in East Africa, was ruled by Omanis for three centuries, from the Al-Yaaruba dynasty in the seventeenth century AD to the Al-Bu Said dynasty until 1964.

The report came after over 60 years had passed since a major massacre where more than 12,000 Arab Muslims were killed.

The Arab leader Ali Mohsen Al-Barwani had a relationship with Gamal Abdel Nasser, which motivated various forces to unite against Arab rule in Zanzibar (Britain, Israel, Nyerere the ruler of Tanganyika, and Abdulrahman Babu, the leader of the communist movement in Zanzibar, who trained with his group for the revolution against Arab rule in Cuba).

Zanzibar Massacre and the Bloody Cou

The source discussed the Israeli occupation’s efforts to form counter relationships with African leaders in the region, such as Ghanaian President Nkrumah and Tanzanian President Nyerere.

Through Nyerere, the occupation got to know Karume, the leader of the bloody coup against the Omanis in Zanzibar in 1964.

In 1964, Arabs in Zanzibar were subjected to brutal ethnic cleansing, with thousands being led to specially prepared mass graves where they were killed and buried during the campaign against Arab residents, supported by Ugandan John Okello.

Western media documented some of these massacres with film cameras, providing visual evidence of the cruelty and brutality of the Zanzibar massacre.

The occupation also attracted the Afro-Shirazi opposition party in Zanzibar and provided it with financial and material support, such as four-wheel-drive vehicles and substantial financial sums.

The mentioned party received monthly support from Israel amounting to eighteen thousand shillings, sent directly to the party’s treasurer, an Indian merchant named Raval.

Using Zionist Agents

Raval was an Israeli agent, a merchant named Misha Vinzelberg, who was present in Zanzibar under the pretext of working in the fish export business.

Due to sympathy for the Palestinian cause, Israeli support for the opposition party increased significantly.

Zionists bought off some leaders of the party, such as Abdullah Qassim Hanga and Abdulrahman Babu, who frequented the office of the Jewish agent Misha and the Israeli embassy in Dar es Salaam at that time.

What further confirms the occupation’s role in ending Omani rule in Zanzibar immediately after the coup is the visit of the Zionists Moshe Dayan, Israeli Minister of Defense, and David Kimche, the second deputy to the head of the Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad).

According to sources, David Kimche led all the secret operations that took place in Africa, including the bloody coup that claimed the lives of thousands of Omanis who were cold-bloodedly killed amidst international silence that denied all these crimes.
