In Flames for Gaza: Roger Waters’ Tribute to American Soldier Aaron Boshnell
Watan-The British singer Roger Waters, founder of the globally renowned rock band “Pink Floyd,” directed a poignant message to the American soldier Aaron Boshnell, who set himself on fire in front of the Israel embassy in Washington in solidarity with Gaza.
Boshnell had approached the Israeli embassy in Washington, and upon arrival, he poured gasoline on himself and set himself on fire while shouting, “Freedom for Palestine,” repeatedly until he stopped breathing, later declared dead by the Washington police.
The British singer Waters shared a video clip showing the moments of Boshnell setting himself on fire in front of the Israel embassy. Waters commented on the video, saying, “Aaron Boshnell… a hero to all Americans.” He added, “I am haunted by dream after dream, driving me to madness, we cannot erase his final scene, let’s pay attention to the dream.”

The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, in a statement, said that the American Air Force soldier Aaron Boshnell (25 years old) passed away after setting himself on fire.
Before setting himself on fire, the American soldier said in front of the embassy, “I will join an extremely violent protest now, but my protest is not significant compared to what the Palestinians are experiencing at the hands of their occupiers.”
The footage also showed a member of the embassy police asking Boshnell, “Can I help you?” and “Lie down on the ground,” while another officer said, “We need a fire extinguisher, not a gun.”
Who is the American soldier Boshnell?
Boshnell, 25, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering from Western Governors University in Utah, USA.
Boshnell also studied computer science and obtained a CompTIA Security+ certification in cybersecurity in September 2020 from the University of Maryland.
Boshnell’s personal LinkedIn profile mentions his participation in basic and technical training with the US Air Force for seven months and monitoring IT infrastructure for two years.
