Surprising Encounter: Egyptian Uber Scooter Driver and Israeli Tourist
The reaction of an Egyptian Uber driver who discovered that the customer is an Israeli tourist

Watan-A video clip has been circulating on social media showing an Egyptian scooter Uber driver named Mahmoud being surprised to find out that his passenger is from the Israeli settlements. He ended up dropping him off after a conversation between the two sides, sparking widespread discussion across the internet. What is the truth behind the video?

The Egyptian young man initially interacted in a friendly manner with the tourist before realizing his identity, assuming he was a foreign tourist and not realizing he was from the Zionist occupation.

There was a conversation between Mahmoud and the passenger, where he asked, “Is Egypt good?” to which the passenger replied, “Excellent” in Arabic. Here, the Egyptian continued the conversation in Arabic, asking the tourist, “Where are you from?” and then repeated the question in English.

The Israeli tourist’s confusion in front of the Egyptian driver

The Israeli tourist was momentarily perplexed in front of the Egyptian driver. The driver repeated the question, saying, “Where do you think (you’re from)?” then laughed, and the Egyptian young man also laughed without knowing his truth at that moment.

Mahmoud, driving the motorcycle, replied in Arabic, “What do you want?” The Israeli passenger then replied, “I’m from Israel,” and the Egyptian looked back for a moment and said, “What?” showing signs of astonishment in his body language.

The Egyptian driver repeated his question, “Why like this?” and repeated the question a third time before deciding not to continue the trip. He told the Israeli passenger, “No, get off and continue your journey by taxi,” and stopped his motorcycle.

What’s the truth behind the video?

Upon inspection, it turned out that the video is genuine and did indeed happen in Egypt. However, it’s old and dates back to the year 2023, specifically in May of that year.

It was circulated at this time coinciding with the events in Gaza and the Israeli brutal attack on the besieged Gaza Strip.

It appears that the Israeli tourist was active on social media and shared the video accompanied by the Egyptian driver, titling it: “What happens when an Israeli visits Egypt?”

The Israeli blogger stated that he aims to give an insight into the Egyptian view of Israel, asking them about the “most hated country,” to which the answer was “consistently Israel.”
