Watan-Reports from French sources indicate that Saudi Arabia has opened negotiations with the owners of the French club Monaco for a potential acquisition.
The international French radio station “Monte Carlo” revealed that Saudi Arabia, through its sports investment fund, is currently taking steps towards acquiring the French club Monaco.
The report stated, “Monaco has been owned for several weeks by its Russian owners who hold 65% of the club’s shares.”

It continued, “Negotiations began days ago between the two parties after the Saudi side purchased some properties owned by the royal family in the French principality of Monaco. This has brought their views closer regarding the possibility of Saudi Arabia acquiring more than 65% of the club’s shares.”

The report concluded, “Saudi Arabia has ended its interest in buying Olympique Marseille at the moment, following its entry into negotiations to purchase Monaco.”
Monaco’s Ranking in the French League
The Saudi Public Investment Fund currently owns 80% of the shares of the English club Newcastle United since October 2021.
As for Monaco’s standings in the French league, the team has played 25 matches in Ligue 1, winning 13, drawing 6, and losing 6. Monaco currently holds the third position in the Ligue 1 table with 45 points, a significant gap behind the league leader Paris Saint-Germain, who has 56 points in the current season.
