Watan-The Israeli military censorship allowed the publication today, Monday, that the occupying army bombed a site in the Nuseirat camp in the Gaza Strip on the night of Saturday-Sunday, claiming “intelligence information” about the presence of Marwan Issa, the deputy of Mohammed al-Daif, the leader of the military wing of Hamas, at the location.

In contrast, Palestinian reports indicated the death of 5 civilians and the injury of 9 others in this airstrike. The bombing was accompanied by internet and power outages.

Israeli media mentioned that the Israeli army is investigating whether Issa was assassinated in this airstrike.

The Hebrew newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” stated that Hamas is investigating whether Marwan Issa, who is considered the actual leader of its military wing, was killed in the airstrike on the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip, where he was believed to be according to estimates.

The assassination of Marwan Issa would be the “most significant operation” since the beginning of the war.

The assassination of Marwan Issa would be the “most significant operation” since the start of the war, according to the newspaper, more than five months ago.

Marwan Issa is considered the third man in the leadership of the military wing of Hamas in Gaza, after Mohammed al-Daif and Yahya Sinwar, and the actual president of the military wing.

Yedioth mentioned that the Israeli security establishment has not yet responded to the report indicating that Marwan Issa may have been eliminated.

Even before the outbreak of the war, Marwan Issa, 59 years old, rarely appeared in public.

“Issa” has been the link between the military and political leadership of Hamas in Gaza since 2012, a position that has woven many connections within Hamas, giving him power and importance in both wings.

Issa was imprisoned in Israeli prisons for five years during the first intifada, following his activity in Hamas, which he joined at an early age. He is one of the founders of the movement and played a crucial role in developing the military systems of Hamas’s military wing.

Issa replaced Ahmed al-Jabari in the position he was killed in at the beginning of the aggression on Gaza in 2012.

He is considered a somewhat “gray” figure and did not have the aura resembling that of al-Daif and al-Jabari.

Given his limited public appearance, he was nicknamed the “Shadow Man.” Israel has previously attempted to assassinate him.

In January, the spokesperson for the Israeli army in Arabic, Avichay Adraee, revealed alleged photos of Issa’s house in the Bureij camp in central Gaza, which was raided by army forces.

In December, it was reported that Mohammed Issa, Marwan’s son, was killed in an airstrike, while his eldest son died about a year ago due to illness.
