British Doctor Defies Cancer to Aid Gaza: A Story of Sacrifice and Humanity
Watan-A British doctor, battling cancer, overcame his pain and arrived in the Gaza Strip to rescue the injured despite his family’s opposition.
A video circulated on social media showing Dr. Hadi Badran, originally from London, a Palestinian origin, working as an anesthesiologist and resuscitator in British hospitals. He recounted that by chance he learned that Gaza needed an anesthesiologist with the Mercy Foundation.
He added that the moment he heard about this, he pleaded with them to send him to Gaza, despite suffering from advanced-stage cancer and receiving chemotherapy doses of the genetic type.
He revealed that his wife strongly opposed the idea to the extent that she asked for a divorce if he went.

“Our blood is not more precious than theirs”
Regarding the reason for her change of mind with her family, Dr. Badran recounted that he told her about the story of the British soldier who set himself on fire in protest against the crimes committed in Gaza by the occupation army, even though he had no connection to Arabs or Muslims in terms of ethnicity, religion, or living among them. He resorted to self-immolation because of the scenes he witnessed on the screens.
When his wife, Baderan, said to him, ‘You have children, and if you die, what will happen to them?’ he replied, ‘If everyone thinks this way, then no one will go to Palestine to help the wounded and the injured,’ and he told her, ‘Our blood is not more precious than theirs.’
According to The Washington Post, many doctors fear staying in the medical sector and its acute crises in Gaza, where the population of 2.2 million people stands on the brink of famine, according to the United Nations.
Infectious diseases are spreading among them, and analysts and relief workers warn that hunger and disease could kill more people than Israeli weapons
