Israeli Forces’ Degrading Arrest Tactics in Jerusalem: A Disturbing Video Sparks Outrage

Watan-Palestinians circulated a horrifying video that depicts the Israeli forces arresting Palestinians in Jerusalem in a degrading manner.

The video showed how the Israeli forces bound all six Palestinians with a single rope and one soldier dragged them in a humiliating and demeaning manner.

The arrest operation took place in the town of Al-Issawiya, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, where the Israeli forces invaded and detained six individuals while they were in one of the town’s streets.

Mistreatment of Prisoners in Israeli Prisons

In a related context, the Palestinian Prisoners Club stated that, with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, the Israeli occupation prison administration continues its policy of starvation against more than 9100 prisoners since October 7th, including women, children, and the sick. This is in addition to restricting their practice of religious rituals, such as prayer, the call to prayer, and Quran recitation.

The policy of starvation has worsened unprecedentedly since October 7th due to a series of imposed measures, including the closure of so-called “prison canteens” and confiscation of remaining food items for prisoners.

There has been a reduction in food portions, and the quality of the food provided is poor, adversely affecting the prisoners’ fate, especially the sick among them. The imprisonment of thousands after October 7th without providing food has exacerbated the starvation policy.

Starvation policy, along with torture and abuse, has become one of the most dangerous policies imposed by the occupation after October 7th, affecting all prisoners, including children, leading to health problems, particularly digestive issues, and severe weight loss.

Deprivation of Prisoners’ Religious Practices

In addition to the starvation policy, the prison administration deprived prisoners of the call to prayer and group prayers even inside the cells. Prisoners have faced numerous assaults after attempting to perform prayers or read the Quran aloud.

Many prisons, including the Negev prison, confiscated the Quran from prisoners in the early days after the aggression. Prisoners also face difficulties in performing ablutions due to a reduction in the provision of water.

Amid an unprecedented collective isolation imposed on prisoners, depriving them of any means of communication with the outside world, including radios and limited television stations available to them before October 7th, thousands are struggling to know even the prayer times inside the cells.

Occupation Practices of Humiliation and Starvation Against Detainees

As the occupation continues to carry out the crime of enforced disappearance against detainees in Gaza, there is insufficient information available about the food provided to them as part of their detention conditions. However, released prisoners confirmed that they suffered from the starvation policy and intentional humiliation to obtain food.

According to testimonies from released prisoners, the prison administration demands detainees from Gaza to “bark” when bringing them meals.

The number of prisoners in Israeli prisons exceeds 9100, including 3558 administrative detainees, about 200 children, and 61 female prisoners.
