Israeli Plan Revealed: Majed Faraj Considered for Gaza Leadership Post-War

Watan-The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) revealed details of a plan by Israeli Defense Minister Yuval Galant for post-war Gaza, which includes efforts to temporarily appoint Palestinian Authority intelligence chief Majed Faraj to manage the Palestinian sector.

KAN cited informed sources as saying that Israel is considering using the Palestinian intelligence chief to build an alternative to Hamas rule on the day following the war, with Majed Faraj assuming control of Gaza with the assistance of individuals not affiliated with Hamas.

Furthermore, the Israeli occupation is reportedly considering naming him responsible for managing Gaza on the day following the war.

Yair Lapid Favors the Palestinian Authority!

However, Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid stated, “It’s natural to mention Faraj’s name, as he is one of the figures within the Palestinian Authority who has worked with us against Hamas.”

In a television interview, Lapid clarified: “The civil apparatus does not pose a barrier to working with the Palestinian Authority, as it has been working with them until today.”

The Israeli official added, “The government must decide whether it will deal with Israeli policy or security. If it concerns Israel’s security, we will work with the Palestinian Authority.”

The opposition leader, who had previously suggested Majed Faraj as an alternative to Mahmoud Abbas in leading the Palestinian Authority, added: “We will only ensure our security, not propose relying on the Palestinian Authority in the war on terrorism,” according to him.

Who is Majed Faraj?

According to Israeli reports, Majed Faraj (61 years old) is the most powerful and senior security figure in the Palestinian Authority, and is considered close to Abbas.

He has excellent relations with senior Israeli security officials and coordinates on behalf of the Authority with both the Shin Bet and the CIA, as well as Arab and Western intelligence agencies.

Leaks suggest that Washington is pressuring Tel Aviv to present its vision for managing Gaza after the war.
