CNN Presenter Confronts Israeli Occupation Spokesperson Over Aid Seeker Deaths
Watan-CNN presenter Wolf Blitzer embarrassed the spokesperson for the Israeli occupation, Colonel Peter Lerner, regarding Israel’s narrative of what happened in the Nablusi roundabout after he attempted to disassociate responsibility for the massacre that resulted in the deaths of dozens and the injury of hundreds as they were receiving food aid on Thursday, March 1, 2024.
The network’s presenter interrupted the Israeli occupation spokesperson to ask him about Israel’s narrative of the incident, asserting that eyewitnesses at the scene strongly contradict the narrative previously presented.
The presenter mentioned that eyewitnesses confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces first opened fire on people near the trucks, causing panic, and the truck drivers simply drove away.
Disturbing Scenes
CNN aired footage described as extremely distressing, quoting the Palestinian Red Crescent, along with many eyewitnesses, saying that civilians were simply waiting in line for food in the western city of Gaza when Israeli tanks and drones opened fire on the crowd.
The Gaza Ministry of Health says more than 100 people were killed and about 800 others were injured.
A local journalist at the scene said most of the deaths occurred due to the chaos that erupted when aid trucks attempted to flee the gunfire while the Israeli army claimed the incident was under investigation.
Within Minutes
The network quoted its correspondent in Tel Aviv, Jeremy Diamond, based on eyewitness accounts, saying that a convoy of aid trucks crossed into one of the neighborhoods west of Gaza City – and within moments, thousands of people began gathering around those aid trucks in a desperate attempt to get the aid they carried.
Then, within minutes of those trucks crossing into northern Gaza, the Israeli army opened fire. According to journalist Khader al-Zaanoun, who was working with the network and other eyewitnesses on the ground.
Israeli military gunfire resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of people, but most of the deaths following this incident occurred when the drivers of those trucks, amidst gunfire and chaos, ran over several people according to CNN.
The Israeli occupation presented a false and different narrative, claiming that a group of Palestinians in that area approached the Israeli military checkpoint that those trucks entered.
The Israeli army says these individuals approached that checkpoint in a threatening manner, and then the Israeli army opened fire.
Currently, there are about half a million people on the brink of famine. Only very few aids managed to reach northern Gaza due to the dangerous security situation, as relief organizations were unable to deliver aid to northern Gaza.
Israeli Allegations
When CNN asked the spokesperson for the Israeli occupation about the reason for the Israeli forces firing at hungry Palestinian civilians who were in dire need of food, the official claimed that the Israeli army coordinated the arrival of humanitarian goods to northern Gaza. This is exactly the convoy that entered, consisting of more than 30 trucks.
He also claimed that the convoy passed through Israeli sites and continued its progress, moving northward. As they were advancing, a large number of people, a large number of people who were run over, broke in.
The Israeli spokesperson continued his allegations, claiming that the Israeli army distributed widely circulated drone footage to share the operation and truck movement as they advanced, while continuing to move forward, while some people were being run over, and that the Israeli occupation forces had nothing to do with what happened according to his claim.
The CNN presenter responded that the drone footage published by the Israeli army and broadcast by CNN worldwide does not show trucks moving through the crowds.
The presenter then asked the Israeli spokesperson why Israel used a 2000-pound bomb and killed half of the Abu Jubeh family alone due to the shockwave.
He added that the family says they were never warned. Why did the Israeli army feel it was appropriate to use this level of military force?
Lerner arrogantly replied that Israel uses precision-guided munitions, but it also relies on the necessity of military need according to him.
