Hamas Proposes Three-Stage Ceasefire Plan in Gaza: Details and Implications
Details of Hamas' proposed ceasefire in Gaza: 3 stages culminating in reconstruction.

Watan-Sources revealed to Al Jazeera that the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” has proposed a three-stage ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip, each lasting for 42 days.

The sources stated that Hamas has stipulated the withdrawal of occupation forces from Rashid and Salah al-Din streets to allow for the return of displaced persons and the passage of aid.

Hamas proposed releasing 50 Palestinian prisoners, including 30 with life sentences, in exchange for each captured soldier.

Additionally, Hamas insisted on declaring a permanent ceasefire before any exchange of its prisoners during the second stage.

Sources also disclosed that Hamas demanded Israel’s withdrawal from Rashid and Salah al-Din streets in the first stage to facilitate the return of displaced persons and the passage of aid.

Hamas’ proposal also includes initiating a comprehensive reconstruction process in Gaza and ending the blockade during the third stage.

On Thursday evening, Hamas announced that it had presented mediators in Qatar and Egypt with a framework for a ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange with Israel, reaffirming its commitment to the rights and concerns of the Palestinian people.

Tel Aviv Receives Hamas Proposal

Meanwhile, Israeli Army Radio quoted an unnamed official as saying that Tel Aviv had received the broad outlines of Hamas’ response regarding the completion of a prisoner exchange deal, indicating that it was under review.

Initial Position from Netanyahu’s Office

In a statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office described Hamas‘ demands as unreasonable and stated that an update on this matter would be presented to the Security Cabinet for evaluation on Friday.
