Apocalyptic Devastation: Khan Yunis in Ruins
Massive destruction in Khan Yunis with estimates suggesting half of its buildings disappeared

Watan-Satellite images have revealed extensive destruction in the city of Khan Yunis, located in the southern Gaza Strip, due to the bombardment and airstrikes carried out by the Israeli occupation army.

According to American researchers Corey Sher from the Center for Advanced Studies at the City University of New York and Jaimon Van Den Hoek from Oregon State University, it is likely that 53.2% of the buildings in Khan Yunis have been damaged.

Images captured between January 19th and March 2nd by Planet Labs depict entire neighborhoods disappearing and other residential areas being destroyed.

The images also show the vicinity of Al-Amal Hospital in central Khan Yunis, where the area witnessed intense shelling and many buildings were razed to the ground.

The United Nations reported that the hospital was the target of Israeli army operations for a month from mid-January to mid-February, estimating that 40 attacks occurred in the area, rendering the hospital unable to provide medical services.

In the western and central parts of Khan Yunis, the images show entire neighborhoods disappearing as a result of Israeli airstrikes and military operations.

Additionally, the images reveal the United Nations compound north of the city, which previously housed hundreds of tents for displaced persons. However, the new images depict the area as empty after it was ordered to be evacuated by the Israeli army at the end of January, with many surrounding buildings also disappearing.

The Israeli brutal war continues

The Israeli occupation army continues its destructive war on the Gaza Strip since October 7th of last year.

The Israeli war has left tens of thousands of casualties, mostly children and women, along with massive infrastructure destruction and a humanitarian catastrophe, leading to Israel facing charges of “genocide” in the International Court of Justice.
