Watan-Social media buzzed with a video clip claimed by its publishers to be produced by a Palestinian filming and editing team in Gaza, depicting scenes amidst rubble and destruction, aiming to deceive the global public opinion and gain sympathy.
This comes amid the ongoing brutal war waged by the Israeli occupation army on the Gaza Strip since October 7th last year.
The truth behind the video
The circulated video is deceptive and stems from behind-the-scenes footage of an advertisement for the Palestinian telecommunications company “PalTel” during Ramadan 2024, titled “The World Will Shine on Us,” and not by Palestinians filming scenes amidst rubble to gain sympathy.
Similarities have been noted between the circulated video and a video previously prepared and published by the Palestinian telecommunications company “PalTel” on YouTube.

The clip is an advertisement titled “The World Will Shine on Us,” addressing the war on Gaza and the suffering of the Strip’s residents during the month of Ramadan, amid the crimes committed by the occupation against children and women.
The fake promotion targeting demonizing sympathy towards Palestinians is part of Israeli propaganda tactics aimed at casting doubt on the Palestinians’ suffering due to the ongoing war, akin to accusing them of forging images of victims, staging scenes, and promoting misleading scenes unrelated to Palestinians.
Exposed Israeli Campaign
A wide campaign spread on social media accusing Palestinians of forging images of victims in Gaza, with many of these claims appearing under hashtags such as Pallywood and Gazawood.
This campaign is not new it was previously used before the Gaza war in 2017 but has gained widespread attention recently.
Within this campaign, supporters of Israeli propaganda have resorted to using real footage of Gaza victims, accompanying them with mocking music and claiming they are fake scenes.
