Palestinian Football Association Urges FIFA to Sanction Israeli Clubs

Watan-The Palestinian Football Association has called on the FIFA to impose sanctions against Israeli clubs and teams due to the violations committed by the Israeli occupation army during its continuous war on Palestine and Gaza, particularly for the sixth consecutive month.

The Palestinian Football Association stated in an official statement posted on its official Facebook account, “The proposal has been supported by six member associations who sent it on March 11th, in order to include it on the agenda of the General Assembly scheduled in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, on May 17th.”

The statement continued, “Ninety-nine Palestinian players have been killed since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7th, in addition to the destruction of all football facilities.”

It further stated, “FIFA must promptly address the continuous violations of its regulations by the Israeli Football Association, manifested in including football teams located in settlements established on Palestinian territories within the Israeli league, territories that belong to the Palestinian Football Association.”

Regarding FIFA’s regulations violations, the statement concluded, “This integration explicitly recognizes Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories where settlements are located, violating many regulations stipulated by FIFA, which contradicts international law and FIFA’s obligations.”

The Israeli occupation army has destroyed sports facilities and stadiums during its ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip for the sixth consecutive month, alongside the deaths of dozens of players from various fields as martyrs, while others remain missing under the rubble of destroyed homes due to random shelling to this day.

According to the latest statistics issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, more than 31,000 Palestinian martyrs, mostly civilians including children and women, have been killed, and around 70,000 others have been injured with various wounds since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7th, until this moment.
