Watan-The company “Henley & Partners,” a consultancy firm specializing in investment migration, revealed shocking numbers and statistics regarding a large number of wealthy Americans who are seeking residency outside of the United States or a second citizenship.
The company reported receiving a record number of inquiries from wealthy Americans seeking ways to obtain residency rights abroad or additional citizenships.
Henley Consultancy noted that there has been a 500% increase in demand for such services, aiming to enable individuals to obtain residency or citizenship simply by investing a certain amount of money in the desired country.
Shocking figures and facts about American trends
Henley further clarified that they have received more applicants for residency and citizenship through investment programs from American citizens than any other nationality.
Henley is not the only company to have revealed such surprising and controversial findings. Financial advisor at a global financial services company, Chess Buchanan, stated that what the Russian elite and those seeking to escape oppressive regimes were doing is now gaining popularity among Americans, who are seeking so-called “golden visas” and passports since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Americans are now turning towards Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, and Spain, with the choice of these countries attributed to the weather and cultural attractions.
These countries also have “no or lower residency requirements,” which attracts wealthy Americans who do not wish to leave the United States but are looking for an alternative plan.
David Lesperance, a tax and international immigration advisor who assists the elite in moving abroad, stated, “Americans are increasingly concerned about the political climate in the United States, while others are interested in international business opportunities.”
America leading in attracting the wealthy
Despite the above, American media reports confirm that there is a large segment of the wealthy who want to come to the United States, with 2,200 millionaires having applied to the country in 2023.
More are expected to come in 2024, with San Francisco and Austin being key attractions for wealthy technology workers.
Florida is also considered an attractive place for wealthy foreigners, confirming that America remains “the undisputed leader in creating and accumulating private wealth.”
According to media and research sources, America holds 32% of the world’s liquid investable wealth and is home to 37% of the world’s millionaires.
