Watan-An Israeli general stated that an American official accused the occupation army of systematically sexually assaulting Palestinian women during a private meeting.
In an interview with radio station 103FM, General Amir Avivi said he was shocked when this accusation came from the Palestinian-Israeli desk officer at the US State Department, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Avivi said, “We sat there and discussed the situation, and suddenly Israel was accused of systematically sexually assaulting Palestinian women.”
According to reports, the American official presented evidence to the Israeli government during the meeting, but Avivi claimed it was completely disconnected from reality.
UN Reports
In February, UN experts stated they received reports of Palestinian female detainees being subjected to various forms of sexual assault in Israeli prisons since October 7.
At least two detainees were reported to have been raped, while others were allegedly threatened with rape and sexual violence.
The experts added that hundreds of Palestinian women and girls have been arbitrarily detained since the beginning of the conflict.
According to the experts, they have also been subjected to inhumane and degrading treatment, including sexual assault, beating, and deprivation of food, medicine, and menstrual products.
Horrifying Testimonies
Palestinian women who were detained by Israeli forces in Gaza and later released recounted these violations to the media.
A Palestinian mother of three told Middle East Eye that she was searched multiple times during her detention.
She said, “Every moment during my detention, whenever we were moved between locations, we were stripped of our clothes.”
She added, “Officers would put their hands on my chest and inside my pants. They beat and kicked us, and if we made any movement or sound, they would shout at us to be quiet.”
She explained that at one point, a group of Palestinian detainees was stripped of their clothes and placed in one room.
She continued, “I saw a group of Palestinian women naked. The female soldiers kicked and asked me to take off my clothes. I refused, but they continued to kick and hit me. Soldiers kept entering and leaving the room while we were undressing.”
