Watan-The Malaysian Federal Police arrested an Israeli who entered the country using a European passport and was found in possession of a number of firearms, amid concerns about the suspect’s connection to the Israeli intelligence agency “Mossad.”

Malaysian Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razak Hussein said at a press conference that the arrest of the 36-year-old suspect took place on March 27, two weeks after his entry into Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 12.

The inspector added that investigations revealed the suspect entered Malaysia using a French passport, but further interrogation revealed an Israeli passport.

During the investigation, the authorities found six pistols, three of them fully loaded, and 200 additional rounds of ammunition in the possession of the suspect.

It was discovered that the suspect purchased the confiscated firearms within Malaysia using encrypted currency, while investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the recipient of the batch.

According to the authorities, the suspect claimed to have entered Malaysia to search for another Israeli individual to kill due to a family dispute, but the authorities did not believe this account, as stated by the inspector.

He added: “We believe that the suspect did not act alone and has local connections here, but we have not yet confirmed his identity.”

The inspector also noted that the police are seeking to contact the French embassy for assistance.

Regarding his connection to the Israeli intelligence, when asked whether the police do not rule out the possibility of the suspect’s affiliation with the Israeli intelligence agency, the inspector said that ongoing investigations also lean towards this aspect.

The police inspector emphasized ensuring the safety of key figures in Malaysia such as the king of the country and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, as investigators are still not convinced by what the suspect said.

The incident’s relation to the war on Gaza

The inspector added: “What is concerning here is that the arrest occurred during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and we are vigilant.”

It is worth mentioning that since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated his supportive stance towards the Palestinian people on several occasions, expressing solidarity with them in the plight they are going through, and emphasized the importance of stopping the escalation and continuous massacres in Gaza.

Ibrahim criticized Western countries for not taking action against the atrocities committed by Israel in Gaza, describing it as “hypocrisy,” compared to their stances on the Russian attack on Ukraine.
