They also set fire to the rest of the building, as well as the main reception and emergency building, destroying dozens of rooms and all the medical equipment within. Thus, the Al-Shifa Medical Complex was officially put out of service due to the intensity of the shelling that destroyed the buildings and equipment.
Fayez al-Duweiri reveals the reason behind the occupation’s deliberate disabling of the Al-Shifa Complex from service
The Major General, strategic and military analyst Fayez al-Duweiri, in a lengthy tweet on his account on the former “X”-Twitter site, revealed that the initial storming of the Al-Shifa Complex by the occupation army coincided with the beginning of the ground battle in Gaza City.
They justified it by alleging that Hamas used it as a military headquarters and that it was considered a major hub for the tunnel network. However, their claims were proven false, and their officials’ lies were exposed.
Al-Duweiri added: “Then came the second siege and storming operation, which lasted for thirteen days. During this time, both the Defense Minister and the Chief of Staff made statements talking about saboteurs, and both mentioned how the operation was carried out professionally and with high precision. There were also discussions about the killing and arrest of hundreds of Hamas and Al-Quds Brigades fighters.”
After that, the withdrawal was announced, revealing the extent of the destruction inflicted upon the buildings and their contents of equipment and supplies. Al-Duweiri continued that these criminal acts reflected the ugly face of the Zionist gang army and the lies of its leaders.

Why Al-Shifa Complex?
Regarding the reason for the occupation army’s targeting of the Al-Shifa Complex, Al-Duweiri said that this is due to multiple reasons, including the symbolic significance of the building, which exceeds the lifespan of the entity, and an attempt to eliminate all elements of resilience and life. After executing starvation killings, they must execute killings by depriving people of healthcare.
He also stated that the Al-Shifa Complex had begun to function as a crisis cell for managing affairs in the northern sector, especially controlling aid distribution and administrative affairs in the area.
This contradicts the entity’s desire to establish an alternative administration to Hamas in cooperation with some clients, which began to emerge recently, specifically yesterday when some individuals affiliated with Majed Faraj’s faction and the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip attempted smuggling, or Hallivi’s attempt to find other alternative leaderships among the Bedouin tribes of the Negev and the East Bank, as some sources indicate.
