Israeli Authorities Arrest Sister of Hamas Leader, Alleging Support for Terrorism

Watan-Hebrew media outlets, citing the Israeli occupation police, reported on Monday that they had arrested the sister of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in the city of Tel Aviv in the Negev Desert in southern Israel on allegations related to “terrorism” and supporting resistance.

The Israeli occupation police and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) said in a joint statement that their forces, along with reinforcements from the Border Guard, carried out a security operation dubbed “Early Dawn,” during which a relative of the Hamas leader living in the town of Tel Aviv was arrested east of the city of Be’er Sheva.

The Israeli occupation police confirmed to the French Press Agency that “Sabah Abdel Salam Haniyeh (57 years old) is detained in Tel Aviv and is undergoing interrogation involving the Internal Security Service (Shin Bet).”

The Israeli website nziv reported that the Shin Bet and the police arrested Ismail Haniyeh’s sister and found documents, communication devices, and mobile phones in her house, as well as other items indicating suspicion of serious security violations, according to Israeli media claims.

Israeli and predominantly Saudi accounts, including Eddie Cohen’s account, circulated an alleged video showing large sums of money and gold bars, claiming that the money and gold shown in the video were seized at the home of Ismail Haniyeh’s sister.

The authenticity of the video has not been independently confirmed, nor did the Israeli occupation police statement mention it. It only alleged the discovery of materials indicating her encouragement of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation on October 7th and a large sum of money.

It is noted that many Hebrew accounts along with Saudi and Moroccan fly brigades always promote rumors and allegations about resistance and Gaza aimed at supporting the occupation’s narrative and demonizing Palestinians and their brave resistance that humiliated the occupation on the ground.

The Israeli occupation police claimed in its statement that it suspects Haniyeh’s sister of “communicating with activists in Hamas, belonging to the organization, inciting and supporting terrorist acts.” This is a charge that the occupation army is accustomed to attaching to civilians it arrests.

Information indicates that Ismail Haniyeh’s sister married in Tel Aviv in Israeli territory before Haniyeh became a leader in Hamas.

Hamas and its political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh, have not responded to the Israeli occupation police statements so far.
