Jordanian Solidarity with Gaza: Defying Repression and Demanding Justice

Watan-For the ninth consecutive day, thousands of Jordanians participated in a solidarity stand with the Gaza Strip near the embassy of the occupying state, condemning the ongoing war since October 7th of last year.

The stand was organized in its usual place in front of Al-Kalouti Mosque in the Rabia area of the capital, Amman, hundreds of meters away from the headquarters of the Tel Aviv embassy in the kingdom.

During this demonstration, the participation of children drew attention as they chanted in solidarity with Gaza and denounced the war on it, expressing their support for Palestinian resistance.

Protesters chanted slogans such as “Document it… A people who don’t want normalization,” “There is no god but Allah… and the martyr is beloved by Allah,” “With our souls, with our blood, we sacrifice for you, Gaza,” and “We neither negotiate nor soften… We die and Palestine lives.”

Security forces prevented children and those under the age of eighteen from protesting near the Israeli embassy, prompting the children to demonstrate and chant in support of Palestinian resistance, saying: “With all our strength, Hamas shakes the earth.”

Jordanian protests defy repression

Protests continue in Jordan despite the arrest campaign carried out by the authorities against activists and protesters, alongside an incitement campaign against the Jordanian movement condemning the Israeli war on Gaza.

Security agencies launched a wide-ranging arrest campaign targeting prominent figures, in addition to the arrest of a group of women who participated in a march near the occupation embassy.

Security forces also raided the homes of prominent unionist Maisara Malas and Jerusalem affairs researcher Ziyad Abuhis, arresting them after searching their homes.

These demonstrations, which occur daily, aim to condemn the Israeli aggression on Gaza and demand that the government sever its ties with the Israeli occupation, and cancel the Wadi Araba Treaty signed between Jordan and the Israeli occupation in 1994.
